Humane Society London & Middlesex (HSLM) hosted a groundbreaking ceremony to launch a $10 million capital campaign to construct a comprehensive Animal Campus.
Thanks to a very generous contribution from Old Oak Properties, the new HSLM building will be named Old Oak Animal Campus. The facility will offer 37,000 sq ft of space, a significant increase from today’s 9,890 sq ft at the current Clarke Rd location. The building will have increased capacity to concurrently shelter 400 animals.
More than a state-of-the-art animal shelter:
With a significant increase in public spaces and programs, the new HSLM headquarters will provide animal care education, advocacy and awareness programs that will dramatically improve animal welfare in our region.
An example of such improvements will be the on-site Companion Animal Hospital (CAH). Developed to serve both HSLM animals, and the public, the CAH will provide low-cost support for community residents who require financial assistance to help with medical expenses for their own pets.
With a focus on research-based animal welfare strategies and innovative approaches to serve the community, the new HSLM Animal Campus will be positioned as a nationally recognized leader in animal welfare, education and advocacy.
