News Release: Local Businesses Step Forward for the Animals

NEWS RELEASE

UPDATE: July 3, 2024 – Our generous match has now been met!

June 18, 2024 – LONDON, ONTARIO Local businesses Don-Mor Automotive Group and Don-Mor CARSTAR have stepped forward with a commitment of up to $200,000 to help complete London’s new Old Oak Animal Campus. The businesses have decided to offer the first $100,000 as a matching gift to encourage the community to join them in completing the final funding requirements for London’s much-needed new humane society facility, located at 1414 Dundas St.

$100,000 of the gift is available immediately as a matching gift, which means pet lovers and/ or the companies they work for can make a donation today and have it doubled.

“We care deeply about our community. Our city needs this new facility to help provide improved animal sheltering and programs in London and region. We are very proud to play a role in the final stretch of the project,” said Don Morton, founder of Don-Mor Automotive Group.

The gift will be recognized as the Don-Mor Auto Group & CARSTAR Community Engagement Centre in the new Old Oak Animal Campus, which is fitting for Morton and team, whose care for animals and community is nothing new. Over a decade ago, the Don-Mor team first started to partner with Humane Society London & Middlesex, sponsoring adoptable animal ads in the newspaper, playing an active role in helping animals find their new families.

Humane Society London & Middlesex launched their capital project in May of 2022, and last month announced they were 97% funded, with $500,000 remaining to their funding goal. Anticipated timeline for their move to their new facility is November 2024.

“We are ecstatic to receive this tremendous support from Don-Mor Auto Group. We truly are Almost Home and we are confident that our community will join Don-Mor and help us complete our new Old Oak Animal Campus,” said Lindsay McDermott, Capital Campaign Director, HSLM. “ Our community has built this new facility and it’s heartwarming to see a business that has been helping our community for over 40 years step forward in such a remarkable way. We are deeply grateful.”

As of July 3 this generous match has now been met. With $100,000 remaining to our capital campaign funding goal, donations can be made securely online or by calling 519-451-0630 ext. 226.
